2012 WATERLOO COUNTY VOLLEYBALL CAMP
preds Run By The K-W Predators Volleyball Club

CAMP PHILOSOPHY

For over 15 years the Waterloo County Volleyball Camp (WCVC) has provided over 1000 participants with a positive volleyball experience. One of our main goals is to ensure that each of our athletes leaves our camp a more confident player. With some of the best coaches in the province, each participant will have a week that will help them improve and become a more competitive and confident athlete. Camp participants can expect a week of competitive volleyball training, personal attention from experienced coaches, and healthy fun.

CAMP HISTORY

The Waterloo County Volleyball Camp was started 17 years ago by Russ Woloshyn, a teacher and coach at Waterloo Collegiate at the time, and Paul Pavan a teacher and coach at Forest Heights Collegiate. Waterloo Region was, and still is, a hotbed for high school volleyball, with numerous teams competing and medalling at the OFSAA level every year. The camp started very modestly with 30 athletes and has grown in popularity every year, to the point that we now accomodate over 200 athletes every summer. In the year 2002, the camp expanded to 2 weeks; one week devoted to athletes that play at the club level and the second week for younger athletes and those that don't have a great deal of experience. This year, we have added a Junior Camp to accomodate those athletes entering grades 4, 5 and 6. Though learning the game of volleyball will still be a big part of this camp, other activities such as crafts, low-org games and other camp games will be incorporated into this junior camp.

The Waterloo County Volleyball Camp boasts one of the best coaching staffs in all of the province and has included a who's who of volleyball in Ontario. Some of our more prominent coaches have included Sarah Pavan who was NCAA Player of the Year in 2006 and is currently playing with the Canadian National Team and professionally in South Korea, Janet Cobb-Mulholland who as a member of the 1992 U.S. National Team won a Bronze Medal at the Barcelona Olympics, Dave McIntrye who coached the Wilfrid Laurier University Women's Volleyball Team and who was also the Assistant coach with the Junior National Team in 2002. Other coaches include Lucas Snider, a former member of the Canadian Men's National Team and the current coach of the Wilfrid Laurier University Women's Team; Dustin Reid, former Technical Director of the Ontario Volleyball Association and currently the coach of the Ryerson University Women's Volleyball Team; and Tim Louks, head coach of the McMaster University Women's Volleyball Team, the 2007-2008 OUA champions.

We have been very fortunate to have had as campers some of the best volleyball players in Ontario and Canadian history. That list would include Stephanie Neville, a member of the Canadian Junior Women's Volleyball Team; and Marnie Simpson, a OUA First Team Allstar and a CIS All-Canadian during her playing days at the University of Western Ontario.

Join us this summer and be part of one of the top volleyball camps in the province.

JUNIOR CAMP GENERAL INFORMATION

The Waterloo County Junior Camp is intended for the very youngest of our campers. This camp will be made up of campers entering grades 4, 5, or 6, or born in 1999, 2000, 2001. Our goal in this camp is to introduce the athletes to the game of volleyball, in hopes that they will develop a fondness for the game and want to continue to play it as they get older.

This camp will teach the very basic fundamentals of volleyball in a non-competitive, fun setting. We recognize that campers of this age will have some difficulty focusing on volleyball for 6.5 hours a day, so other activities, such as crafts, low-org games, and other camp games will also be offered every day.

Any athletes that do wish to concentrate on volleyball for the full day will be given the option of opting out of the non-volleyball activities and playing volleyball for the full day.

The camp will operate from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm from Monday to Friday during the week of July 23 to July 27.

The cost of the Club Camp is $200. Click here to register.

Please note that only club athletes will be accepted into this camp.

We offer athletes a diverse volleyball experience by bringing in top level guest coaches who offer their incite and expertise in the game of volleyball. These coaches would include Dustin Reid, coach of the Ryerson University Women's Volleyball Team; Tim Louks, Head Women's Volleyball Coach at McMaster University; and Gabriele Jobst, Head Women's Coach at the Unversity of Waterloo and a former member of the Canadian Women's National Volleyball Team.
